FIGHTER BIO

BIO RAYMOND DANIELS

Raymond Daniels was five years old when his black-belt father began teaching him the art of Kenpo Karate. It was the beginning of a long, hard road that saw the younger Daniels earn his own black belt seventeen years later.

Along the way he competed in a lot of karate tournaments and at many of these he learned hard lessons. There were signs of the fighter that he would become but Daniels was very much a work in progress during his adolescence and he frequently tasted defeat along with the victories.

But he was amassing experience at an exponential rate and at 19 he had faced fighters of every conceivable style and approach. He started winning tournaments everywhere he went and suddenly he emerged as a force on the world karate scene. Both the National Black Belt League (NBL) and the North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA) had him ranked at the top of his weight class and he traveled abroad extensively to compete, finding success all around the world.

Now aged 32, he has over a dozen years of world-beating performances under his faded and much-used black belt. He has eight NBL world championship wins to his name, two NASKA world championships, nine championship wins at the prestigious Irish Open, an event staged under the auspices of World Association of Kickboxing Associations. As proof of his versatility, Daniels even managed a second-place finish at the World Pro Taekwondo Championship in Serbia in 2010, only narrowly missing out on a $50,000 grand prize.

Many American fight fans know Daniels for his run in Chuck Norris’ World Combat League, a full-contact fight promotion which had some of the USA’s best martial artists on its roster. Daniels went undefeated in the WCL, scoring 17 wins overall with nine by way of knockout. A lifelong martial artist, Daniels’ unique style and extensive experience make him a very challenging opponent for his opponents and his timing and power are legendary among his fellow karate fighters.
